The idea of the site 'readasummary.com' began when the site's author started new media courses at the Centennial College, Toronto, 2001. It kept on developing and various other courses weren carefully taken at different colleges. The site was launched on 25 September 2003 in Toronto, Canada.
The site is for young teens age 11 and up as well as for adults to read summaries that help in the book selection process.
To inform children and care givers about published fiction books / e-books through summaries that intentionally lack some important points to make young teens or pre-teens curious to read.
Stories are strong media that can enhance children's moral, emotional and intellectual capabilities. Through summaries, the site intends to inform young teens and their care givers about recommended fiction books recommended by librarians. . Young teens will be kept eventually busy, entertained and educated.
To achieve this objective, the site developer will continuously research young teens' fiction: print as well as non-print markets to provide young teens with recommended valuable fiction books.
To further educate and entertain young teens themes from the listed books are carefully suggested.
The site encourages young teens' parents and care givers to read the summaries, get the actual fiction books and suggest them to their young teens according to their reading levels.
After reading the summaries, hurry up to get the actual fiction book from your library or favourite bookstore!
Most of the summaries are of award-winning/new published fiction books for young teens, school grade six and up, which is equal to ages 11 and up
